Last week we featured “Five attributes to use for winter geocaching” and today we are grabbing our flip flops and sunblock and highlighting five attributes to use during the summer months. Attributes are a Premium member search filter available in the Geocaching® app and on Geocaching.com. Basic members can see which attributes are assigned to a geocache by looking in the geocache details. Ready to dive in?

1. Bicycles allowed
The days are getting longer and the temperatures are warming, sounds like the perfect time to grab your bike and helmet and hit the road, path, or trail for your next geocache find. The “bicycles allowed” attribute will help you identify which caches are perfect for finding along your ride.

2. May require wading
Whether it’s the spring melt making things a little soggy or a low-tide crossing to a secluded island, geocaches with this attribute feel way more realistic to attempt in the summertime. Search for geocaches with the “may require wading” attribute for a way to cool off during caching adventures in the warmer months.

3. Boat required
Whether you prefer a canoe, kayak, motored boat or another watercraft, the “boat required” attribute will help you find your way to the water. Looking for more water caching inspiration? Read avid geocacher and Lackey RockChalk’s tips for paddle caching!

4. Part of a power trail
More daylight means more time to geocache, right? Take advantage of the extended sunlight by planning a power trail outing. Power trails are groups of geocaches, usually along a road, bike path, or trail that are placed exactly 0.1 miles (0.16 km) from each other. Set a personal record for most caches found in a day!

5. Recommended for kids
School’s out for summer! Geocaching is a fun, educational, and engaging activity for kids of all ages and this attribute makes it easy to find the best geocaches for youngsters. Geocaches with this attribute tend to have easier difficulty and terrain ratings and oftentimes a cache size that can hold trackables and swag.
