As we look back on twenty years of geocaching history, we decided to revisit some of our favorite Geocaches of the Week from years past.

This week we’re going back to September 2015 when we first put Gdansk TB Hotel (GC2EC67) in the spotlight. Almost five years later, this clever urban cache is still delighting geocachers and earning an impressive number of Favorite points.

Gdansk TB Hotel was placed almost ten years ago and at the time was one of the first TB hotels in Poland. The cache was initially placed inside a store that attracted visiting tourists and now sits just outside the store. Many admire how the cache subtly blends in with its surroundings. The ammo-can container is placed in plain sight next to a decorative bicycle that is permanently propped up outside the store and appears to be part of the decoration.

The clever placement next to the bicycle is one of the reasons the cache has been around for so long. Despite being in a highly populated part of the city and having no covering or camouflage, the cache doesn’t get muggled because it does not look out of place.

The over 1300 Favorite points this Traditional Cache has earned show that even without complex gadgets or intricate puzzles, a well-maintained and well-placed geocache makes a strong impression.

Here’s looking forward to another ten years of smileys and logbook signatures for this special geocache.
