The historic town of Budapest is known for fairytale architecture, paprika-spiced dishes, and plentiful hot water spas—but Hungary’s capital city has much more to offer. The Colourful City Group has made it their mission to spice up the city with intricate paintings and artwork displayed on buildings around the city. One neighborhood in particular, District VII, is the current focus of artists, who seek to brighten the area and inspire those who travel through it.

The street art that beautifully adorns District VII in Budapest is the subject of this week’s Geocache of the Week.

Colourful city is a Wherigo that guides geocachers through District VII in Pest, which is separated from the area of Buda by the Danube River. Along the way, you’ll pass by cafés, ruin bars, and the largest synagogue in Europe as you admire detailed public art pieces. To advance to the next stage, you must answer a question about the artwork in front of you. The 108 Favorite points on this cache are a testament to the artists who share their phenomenal murals for all to see.
